If you become a 'Friend' of Oban War & Peace Museum you will be supporting the work of our museum and helping us to develop our facilities now and for future generations. By committing to an annual membership fee of just £10 you will be making an ongoing and valued contribution to our funds.
We welcome 'Friends' from all over the UK and overseas, not just from the local area. You will be kept up to date with our newsletter and will hear about any special events we plan.
The museum is an independent organisation run by volunteers and receives no local council support. We rely entirely on donations from visitors and local fundraising to finance our day to day activities.
Being a 'Friend' will assist this but, more importantly, it will help us to raise the £40,000 we need to repay the generous personal loan that enabled us to purchase our own premises in 2004. Without this loan the museum probably would not have survived and the Board of Trustees is committed to repaying the debt as soon as possible.
The 'Friends of the Museum' scheme was launched in March 2006 when we moved into our new premises and we are proud that the first 'Friend' to sign up was the Lord-Lieutenant for Argyll & Bute, Kenneth A MacKinnon RD WS, who has now become the museum's Patron.
